Also referred to as work from home tax jobs or WFH tax jobs, these roles will involve either 1) 100% working from home or 2) a split of home and office working or 3) 100% remote working whilst the country is in lockdown, with a view to returning to the office in due course.

What will be interesting to see is how remote-working tax jobs will be paid in the longer term. For example, if you work for a Big 4 tax team in London but you are permanently based from home in Yorkshire, should you be paid a London salary or a Leeds salary ? Arguably the London salary is only higher because of the increased cost of living in the capital. On the other hand, London clients may pay a higher hourly charge-out rate for tax work and therefore the salary supplement could be justified.
