Senior VAT Manager (Umsatzsteuer)

Based in Bochum, this is a senior level, VAT project leadership position in a large and prestigious multinational company. Reporting to the Head of Indirect Tax at, the role will focus on setting up European VAT projects.

This will include industry-leading VAT projects and the set up new business models and advising on M&A transactions from a VAT perspective. You would be working on wider business projects involving cross-functional teamwork with people inside and outside of Tax and Finance.

The work will be varied and interesting and no two days will be the same. Whilst the focus is on VAT projects, you would also jump into day-to-day VAT work as well.

This is the most important VAT technical role within this company. It provides advice to the in-country tax teams who handle some VAT issues. The role is a central authority for the in-country tax teams: determine guiding principles, help them to interpret law correctly.

New VAT legislation is constantly being announced so you need to keep on top of that, coordinate and interact with VAT experts on implementation, coordination how to react to new legislation, and keep well informed.

This is a pure VAT role that doesn’t require wider knowledge of Customs or Excise tax. The Steuerberater qualification is required along with at least five years dedicated VAT experience.
