Customs Manager, Iconic Brand, Germany

Overview

Our client, a global leader in their sector with an iconic brand is looking for a Customs Manager to join their European HQ. You will work closely with the Customs Director and oversee complex supply chain projects and implement a new customs strategy. You will be the number 2 within the business for global operatives. This role will also see you managing a senior team of professionals. This position is based in Germany.

Responsibilities

Designing and controlling the continuous auditing of processes and documentation as well as corresponding organizational, process and business developments with regard to customs and export control requirements
Ongoing monitoring of business development of relevant business units for the identification of compliance risks and the need for action
Responsible for the development and implementation of a reporting process for the presentation of the compliance status and the associated assumption of the role as Process owner
Ongoing monitoring and further development of the Customs documentation
Main point of contact with the customs authorities
Advising the Customs Management team and all adjacent business units as well as other groups within the network regarding customs and export control issues
Further developing training concepts for junior members of the team

Your Experience

Several years of professional experience in the field of customs and foreign trade law (in particular, dealing with customs authorities)
Very good knowledge of customs law, general tax law and export control
Very good skills in problem solving, decision-making and project management, along with very good planning and organizational skills
Leadership experience (or the qualities to take on this role)
Negotiation skills with internal and external customers
Very good knowledge of spoken and written German and English
