Duties:
* Accurate preparation and timely filing of all UK and overseas indirect tax returns on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis as required, and any relevant payments
* Responsible for overseeing the correct indirect tax entries in the P&L and Balance Sheet of the UK companies and branches
* Regularly refresh processes and controls to improve indirect tax compliance.
* Preparation of indirect tax documentation for SAO requirements
* Monitor the group's indirect tax position and demonstrate compliance with local laws in each jurisdiction.
* Effective and appropriate interaction with HMRC, external Auditors, advisers and other stakeholders in relation to Aspen's indirect tax matters
* Assistance with tax projects, planning, ad-hoc research and advice to the business
* Ensure rate changes are reflected, reported and communicated to the business
* Participate and undertake applicable professional, technical and career development training (delivered internally and externally) to include attainment of professional qualification.
* Where applicable ensure company, market and client related documentation is issued (internally and externally) accurately and on time.
* Comply with external and internal regulatory and statutory policies, procedures and regulations.

Qualifications/Experience needed:
* Qualified Accountant with indirect tax experience
* Strong data analysis and data extract capabilities, in particular Advanced Excel skills, use of pivot tables etc.
* Financial services experience is preferred but not essential - however a working knowledge of VAT partial exemption is required. Training and support will be given on overseas indirect tax matters as required
* Full support will be given for relevant CPD
* IT Knowledge - Microsoft packages, Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Software, Database Software. Training will be given on Underwriting systems and data warehouse/reporting as necessary
