Our client is currently looking to recruit a commercial Tax Assistant Managers and Managers for an exciting new role in a very high profile Financial Services business based in city centre Edinburgh. As Assistant Manager you will support the Head of Tax and the Tax Manager in providing a comprehensive and proactive Corporate Tax, VAT and operational taxes compliance and advisory service to all businesses throughout the organisation applying appropriate processes and systems to ensure that tax reporting and compliance obligations are met and tax advice is properly reflected in management and statutory accounts. This is a six month fixed term contract with potential to extend.
Responsibilities:
* Accurate and timely preparation of the corporation tax computations
* Accurate and timely preparation of the group VAT return
* Accurate and timely preparation of the CT61
* Working with finance and business colleagues to obtain the necessary source information to prepare tax returns and deal with queries
* Numerical analysis and interrogation of information
* Supporting the Tax Manager and Head of Tax on compliance matters and additional ad hoc projects
* Operating within the operational risk parameters and procedures
* Supporting the achievement of the annual taxation business plan to contribute to the achievement of the overall Finance business plan.
* Ensuring that tax risks are identified and steps are implemented to mitigate these.
About You:
* Qualified Accountant (CA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent) or a Chartered Tax Practitioner
* Experience in Financial Services is preferable
* A strong tax technical ability, up to date for current legislation.
* A good communicator with a clear grasp of UK corporation tax compliance and the ability to convey tax technical matters in area of responsibility
* Knowledge and experience of VAT and operational taxes would be an advantage
* Ability to identify areas of tax risk within areas of responsibility
* Good stakeholder management skills.
* Able to deliver across a number of priorities.
* Proven drive and determination and an ability to work both autonomously and within a team
* Proven flexibility and willingness to broaden skills and experience
