A leading and growing accountancy and advisory firm is looking to recruit an experienced Corporate Tax Manager to join its established Corporate Tax team in West Sussex.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Corporate Tax professional looking for a genuinely mixed role combining approximately 50% tax advisory work with 50% Corporate Tax compliance.

You will join a substantial Corporate Tax team of approximately 25 professionals, forming part of a wider tax service line of nearly 100 people. The size and structure of the team provides access to a broad range of expertise, complex assignments and excellent long-term progression opportunities.

The client base is equally impressive and includes entrepreneurial growth companies, larger corporates, multinational groups, FCA-regulated businesses and AIM-listed PLCs across a variety of industries.

The Role

As Corporate Tax Manager, you will manage a diverse portfolio of corporate clients while working closely with the Senior Management team and Corporate Tax Partner.

You will have significant client responsibility and act as the main point of contact for several of the firm's key clients.

The role will include:

- Managing a varied portfolio of UK and international corporate clients
- Acting as a trusted adviser and key point of contact for clients
- Advising businesses on tax-efficient structures
- Managing Corporate Tax compliance services across your portfolio
- Reviewing complex Corporation Tax returns and computations
- Ensuring assignments are completed accurately and within deadlines
- Identifying tax planning and advisory opportunities
- Working closely with Partners and senior members of the Corporate Tax team
- Collaborating with tax specialists across an international network
- Managing relationships with several premium clients
- Supporting the continued development of the Corporate Tax offering

50% Corporate Tax Advisory

A major attraction of this opportunity is the level of genuine advisory work available.

Approximately 50% of your time is expected to focus on Corporate Tax advisory and planning assignments, giving you the opportunity to develop considerably broader experience than a traditional compliance-led Manager position.

Recent assignments undertaken by the team have included:

- Corporate reorganisations
- Demergers
- Loan relationship planning
- EIS schemes
- R&D Tax Credits
- Employee share schemes
- Acquisition due diligence
- Business disposals
- Corporate restructuring
- International tax matters

You will also have the opportunity to gain further exposure to areas including Double Taxation Relief, Double Tax Treaties, Transfer Pricing, Thin Capitalisation and Controlled Foreign Companies.

You do not need to be an expert across every international tax area from day one, with support and mentoring available to help broaden your technical expertise.

Team Leadership

Alongside managing your client portfolio, you will play an important role in developing the Corporate Tax team.
You will oversee approximately three members of staff within the local Corporate Tax team and take responsibility for:

- Reviewing work
- Allocating assignments
- Providing technical guidance
- Training and mentoring junior colleagues
- Supporting professional development
- Managing workflow and deadlines
- Helping team members develop their Corporate Tax knowledge and confidence

This provides an excellent opportunity to strengthen your people-management experience ahead of progression towards Senior Manager level.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will have strong Corporate Tax experience gained within a UK accountancy practice or professional services environment.

You will ideally have:

- CTA qualification or be qualified by experience
- Strong UK Corporation Tax knowledge
- Demonstrable Corporate Tax experience
- Experience managing a portfolio of corporate clients
- Experience reviewing Corporation Tax returns and computations
- Exposure to Corporate Tax advisory work
- Strong client relationship skills
- A proactive and commercially minded approach
- The confidence to take ownership of assignments
- Strong organisation and priority-management skills

Previous exposure to international tax matters would be advantageous but is not essential.
Experience training, supervising or mentoring junior staff would also be beneficial.
Occasional travel to client sites and other offices across Sussex, Kent and London will be required.

Career Progression

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to continue developing beyond Corporate Tax Manager level.

The combination of complex advisory work, premium client relationships, international exposure and team management provides a strong platform for progression towards Senior Manager and beyond.

You will work closely with senior leadership while having access to specialists across a substantial UK and international network.
The firm's continued growth and investment are also creating broader career pathways and opportunities for ambitious tax professionals to take on increasing responsibility.

What's On Offer?

Alongside a competitive salary, the firm offers an extensive benefits package including:

- Hybrid working – 3 days in the office / 2 days from home
- Flexible working policies
- 25.5 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
- Holiday purchase scheme
- Private Medical Insurance
- Health Cash Plan
- Life Assurance
- Income Protection
- Critical Illness Insurance
- Contributory pension scheme
- Employee Assistance Programme and counselling
- Employee discounts and rewards
- Recognition and financial award schemes
- Extensive internal and external training
- Clearly mapped career progression
- Paid volunteering day
- Cycle to Work scheme
- Additional financial and travel benefits

Culture & Values

The firm offers an inclusive and collaborative working environment where people are encouraged to develop their careers, take ownership and build long-term relationships with clients and colleagues.
There is a strong emphasis on professional development, flexibility and wellbeing, while continued growth and investment are creating broader career opportunities and access to specialist expertise across the wider business.
