An experienced tax professional is sought by our client to help run an in-house tax function. In this role you will oversee the tax compliance process and manage outsourced compliance for direct and indirect taxes. You will work closely with the Finance Director on a wide range of projects including transactions. The ideal candidate will be a qualified tax professional with large group experience. Day to day this role includes:
• Overseeing the end to end tax compliance process. Working with advisers and outsource providers to monitor timely and accurate filing of corporate income tax, indirect tax, employment taxes (CIS and PAYE) and other regulatory deadlines such as SAO.
• Act as a resource for the business and the FD constantly identifying emerging tax risks and developing strategies to mitigate or improve processes and controls for tax.
• Lead and manage relationships with external tax advisors and HMRC.
• Oversee tax accounting, including forecasting, provisioning, and reporting under UK GAAP.
• Work closely with Legal, Commercial and Finance on business-critical projects such as exit readiness, refinancing and re-organisations.
• Education and updating of teams within the business on key tax issues.
• Keep abreast of legislative issues and monitor how new legislation will the business.
This role would suit some a qualified tax professional (e.g., CTA, ACA, ICAS or equivalent) with extensive post qualification experience dealing with large groups ideally gained in a large accountancy firm or in industry. Ideally you will have experience of corporate tax, VAT and employment taxes and the ability to advise on M&A transactions and major projects. You will need experience advising senior finance professionals and strong tax reporting experience and the ability to manage tax risk and governance.
