Director, Tax

A multinational life insurance company are currently looking to recruit a senior tax professional.

The Asia Division Tax Department within the Regional Office coordinates and provides direction to group tax function in its Asia operations, which includes China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, India liaison office and Thailand as well investment platforms in Luxembourg and the Cayman Islands.

The incumbent will report to the Head of Taxation, Asia, and will provide support in addressing key accountabilities:
- The preparation of tax analysis, compliance and tax audit support,
- Project support in Asia.
- Product taxation (both life and investment)
- Supporting the Investment Division with its various asset management companies and investment platforms
- Reviewing available tax incentives,
- Reviewing taxation of new and existing products and derivative taxation.

The incumbent is also responsible for supporting the Head of Taxation, Asia with the various tax issues and planning opportunities in Asia that may arise. The incumbent will also participate and contribute to the Global Tax Team as necessary.

You will ideally have a recognized accounting/finance degree while also be a qualified member of a recognized accounting body.
A minimum of ten years of work experience with at least 7 years being focused on tax would be advantageous as well as experience in a multi-national company or global accounting firm is required. Experience with the taxation of financial services (preferably insurance and/or investment management related) is needed.
You will have superior in-depth technical knowledge of tax rules in Asia jurisdictions with ability to apply these rules into the evaluation and development of tax strategies.
