Our client is a well established privately owned real estate fund group, embarking on the hiring process for a high calibre Tax Manager to work in the group's head office as a stand-alone tax specialist.
Based in central London, the group has a number of active funds that holds real estate assets within the UK and across Europe. They have an ongoing strategy of acquiring and managing under utilised real estate assets across the different funds.
They are now looking to hire a new Tax Manager to join the group in-house for the first time. Reporting to one of the company's senior Directors, the role will act as a key liaison point with external tax advisers on asset transactions, assessing tax advice and associated commercial considerations relating to transactions, and subsequently working on the implementation of transactions within the group. In addition, the role will liaise with key providers for tax compliance, ensuring that all corporate tax and other tax compliance requirements are met by the group. The new Tax Manager would also identify other areas of tax planning or initiatives that could increase the tax efficiency of the group.
In order to match the profile sought, candidates are very likely to have come from a Big Four / Top 10 tax advisory background with experience of handling transactions in the real estate sector. You will have reached a Senior Manager level in that environment, or may have already moved in-house into a real estate / funds group as a tax adviser, and now looking for the next step in your career, possibly looking for a move from a team into a stand-alone leadership role. In addition, you will have a proactive and dynamic character, will be confident when working with deal teams and external advisers, and will have a good sense of practical commercial consequences resulting from transactions.
This role is seen as an excellent commercial tax role within a sought-after real estate organisation, and which would be highly visible within the group and within the real estate sector.
