JSS Search have been retained by a leading global insurance group that is seeking a dynamic Head of Tax with a strong commercial acumen to join either their London or Dublin office.
Responsibilities:
● Offer tax insights and contribute to business strategy development, including Pillar 2 modelling, Group structure optimization, and PFIC considerations.
● with external tax consultants as needed to compute and record quarterly US GAAP and UK/Irish GAAP tax provisions for Group, UK, and Irish entities.
● quarterly Group US GAAP / annual UK/Irish GAAP entity financial statement tax note disclosures and handle all tax-related reporting / disclosures.
● Oversee internal and external audit processes pertaining to tax matters, ensuring proper internal controls are established and documented.
● Ensure timely and accurate tax filings for the Group, coordinating with external tax consultants when necessary for compliance.
● Manage corporation tax (UK and Irish entities), including quarterly payments, FIN48 memo, annual CbCR, and publication of the UK tax strategy.
● Handle VAT (UK and Irish VAT groups) and IPT (across relevant jurisdictions).
● Manage employment taxes, including those related to employee share schemes in the UK, Ireland, and Bermuda.
● Oversee annual transfer pricing with support from internal actuarial / FP&A and external tax consultants, ensuring OECD-compliant documentation.
● Maintain and gain annual Board approval for tax and regulatory operating guidelines for each entity, along with US tax operating guidelines for the group.
● Provide operational guidelines training to the business and support Compliance / Internal Audit in monitoring compliance and annual attestation.
● Manage the relationship and budget with external tax consultants, tracking and reporting variances.
● Lead tax planning and forecasting for the Group, overseeing tax projects.
● Support the UK CFO as the Senior Accounting Officer, ensuring accurate tax accounting arrangements and controls.
● Keep the finance team informed of pertinent industry tax developments.
Skills & Experience:
● Professional tax designation.
● Significant post-qualification experience, particularly in (re)insurance.
● Comprehensive understanding of US, UK, and Irish tax frameworks.
● Proven experience working with senior management, Audit Committees, and Board presentations.
● Ability to collaborate across functional areas to achieve organizational objectives.
● Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
● Exceptional organizational skills and ability to work autonomously.
