As a senior in the personal tax team, you will look after a portfolio of clients and be responsible for all aspects of their tax compliance work and have direct client contact.

The role

The role includes looking after the tax affairs, including preparing the tax returns, for a variety of high net worth private clients, including non-UK domiciliaries. Experience of internationally mobile individuals and employees, residence and domicile, including the statutory residence test and the remittance basis would be useful.


As a senior in the personal tax team, you will look after a portfolio of clients and be responsible for all aspects of their tax compliance work and have direct client contact. Your role will include the preparation of a complex and diverse range of tax returns, preparing responses to client queries and assisting with one-off advisory projects.

The individual

The ideal candidate will be committed to a career in tax and will have relevant experience in a personal tax role. Experience of the delivery of tax work, problem solving and the ability to use your own initiative is essential, with the experience of sole trader accounts preparation and preparing computations from accounts being desirable.

Previous experience of using computerised accounts or tax packages is useful. The firm uses CCH Central.

The successful applicant will require excellent organisation and interpersonal skills, the ability to prepare accurate work in a timely and cost-effective manner and comfortable at working under pressure to tight deadlines within an ambitious team. With this role, come the pre-requisites that the candidate is motivated, committed and flexible with the ability to meet deadlines. A natural team player is essential, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude.

Education and experience

Candidates should be educated to at least A level, ideally degree level and will have obtained a relevant professional qualification i.e. CTA/ACA/ICAS.

The department

The personal tax department consists of a team of 15, from Trainee to Director.

The Bristol office is located in the highly attractive and popular area of Clifton. This is a thriving part of the city in which to work.

Role reports to

Assistant Managers, Managers, Senior Manager and Directors as appropriate.

Annual salary at very competitive market rate, depending upon experience.
Paid overtime or time off in lieu.
23 days annual leave. This increases to 25 in line with length of service.

Group life cover of three times salary, which you may increase to four times salary under the Reward Centre flexible benefits programme.
Contributory pension scheme (The firm will contribute 4% of salary on a matched basis with employees after six months service).
Salary review annually in October.
Six-month probationary period.
Eligibility for the firm’s generous Profit Sharing Plan that runs from October to September each year. The scheme enables staff to share in the profits of the firm.
