Tax Assistant, Multinational Insurance Business, London, to £35k + bonus

A leading multinational insurance business based in the City of London is seeking a Tax Assistant to come and work hand in hand with their current Head of Tax. This role is ideal for someone in a junior Tax or Finance position who has an interest in developing a career in Tax.

This role will expose you to both direct and indirect tax as well as Lloyd’s reporting. The successful applicant will have ongoing direct support from the Head of Tax as well as study support for the ATT then CTA. Support for an accountancy qualification is also on offer.

Key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

- Assisting on the direct and indirect tax issues for the group, assisting the Head of Tax wherever required
- High level data gathering and analysis, working in conjunction with their Big 4 outsource providers
- Ensuring accurate and timely tax submissions
- Assisting on a wide range of ad hoc advisory projects in the UK and overseas

We are looking for people who are graduates in Finance or a similar degree, are intuitive, have great attention to details and who have a basic understanding of UK Tax law. This is a development role and you won’t be expected to have direct experience of Corporate Tax, Indirect Taxes or the Lloyd’s markets but it would be helpful to have an understanding.

Ideally you will have had 1-2 years’ experience in a finance or tax position and have good excel skills. You will have excellent communication skills and a desire to develop up over the next 4-5 years to the Tax Manager level.
