Tax Assistant opportunity with a Firm of Chartered Tax Advisers based in Yeovil, Somerset.  The client provides Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) and Land Transaction Tax (LTT) advice and compliance services to firms of solicitors throughout the UK involved in the residential and commercial property sectors.

Their role is to provide those firms with guidance and advice to enable the conveyancing process to run smoothly and to submit SDLT/LTT returns where appropriate.  They also deal with HMRC enquiries on behalf of those firms and have been instrumental in resolving a number of complex enquiry cases involving Multiple Dwellings Relief, mixed use acquisitions, and the purchase of expensive residential property by corporates.

We now seek a tax assistant for their small office in Yeovil preferably ATT or AAT qualified that has an interest in pursuing a career in Tax (focussing on SDLT/LTT)   

No specific experience in dealing with these taxes is required as full training will be given.  A study package for the CTA qualification will be considered after the initial training period has ended which is expected to take around 6 months.   No timesheets.

Duties will include:

Admin tasks associated with new client engagements, billing and general office admin including answering the telephone.
Providing assistance with management projects.
Compiling SDLT/LTT reports for solicitors and their clients.
Talking to solicitors over the phone and to compile written responses to their SDLT/LTT queries.
Assisting with proposals for new client work.
Attending presentations and exhibitions throughout the UK

An ability to know your way around tax legislation, and to be able to explain it to someone else, is absolutely crucial for this role

You will also need to be able to conduct adequate research on complex tax matters using various online tools.

Good keyboard skills, a good telephone manner and the ability to use Office 365 is essential as we are a paperless office.
