The London office of this well-known, award-winning international law firm is looking to recruit a Tax Litigation Associate with seven or more years of experience in the field.
You will be joining a sizeable tax department that advises listed and foreign owned companies, public sector organisations and institutional investors on all contentious and non-contentious tax issues.
Suitable candidates will have a good understanding of both direct tax and indirect tax issues, HMRC powers, tribunal procedure and other routes to remedy against HMRC (such as High Court restitution and judicial review).
Furthermore, you will have gained a good range of experience of handling tax disputes work during your career to date with a City firm or large regional practice.
Not only will you be technically proficient but also commercially aware and enthusiastic about business development.
You must be comfortable in working as part of a team on occasions, as well as handling your own work, with support from colleagues at other times, and comfortable taking on key involvement with major tax projects across the UK and cross border.
You will have experience in running Tax Tribunal proceedings and ideally also tax litigation in the High Court. You will of course also have strong knowledge of the HMRC enquiry process and HMRC powers.
