The role of the Tax specialist is to possess the ability to understand the operations of tax within the Business, as well as regulatory, environment changes and drive their implementation within the UK Private bank and Channel Islands.
The role holder will:
* Support group-wide tax projects in close cooperation with the Global Private Bank (GPB) tax team (specifically operational matters involving CRS, FATCA and tax transparency)
* Actively involved in identifying any risk issues with the GPB
* Assist with developments and changes relating to the UK tax legislation, such as UK Resident Non-Domiciled rules or product related technical rules
* Be proactive in identifying potential solutions and communicating with confidence, credibility and a support focus
* Attend meetings in the UK as directed by senior colleagues
* Commercial and relationship awareness, sound judgment, enthusiastic, possessing effective communication skills with the flexibility to manage the expectations of a range of stakeholders
Responsibilities:
* Provide a central contact point for GPB sites through which Tax Risk queries can be communicated
* Work with Risk and other stakeholders (Audit, ORIC etc.) to ensure Tax Risks are appropriately reported at the GPB and the Group level
* Provide high quality technical and practical input across GPB in respect of the application of the procedures in place for operational incident reporting
* Ensure all reporting systems are properly documented with the latest information
* Help drive and implement GPB-wide projects and embed within BAU process
* Provide support for the development and implementation of strategy
* Drive the development of relevant, clear, comprehensive and appropriate policies and procedures
* Act as contact point for GPB Tax risks and provide advice, assistance and support for the sites in question
* Act as a valuable support for the roll-out of all GPB-wide and/or European-wide project implementations
* Be actively involved in the development of relevant GPB policy, process and procedure
* Maintain the highest standard of excellence in Tax risk reporting
* Actively participate in the development and refinement of the internal control/process environment
* Make sure any project undertaken is in line with the Group's compliance standards and respects the project management framework
* Work with a multitude of stakeholders in all sites
* Demonstrate a high level of personal credibility in front of the full range of stakeholders
Qualifications/experience:
* Qualified tax professional
* GPB experience
* Commercial and relationship awareness, sound judgement and high-quality communication skills with the flexibility to manage the expectations of a range of stakeholders is essential
* Project management and coordination skills with an ability to find and drive solutions in a matrix environment
* Ability to prioritise projects/tasks according to deadlines and requirements and deliver high-quality work
* Good IT skills
