EMEA Tax provide integrated tax services to API Tax, EMEA affiliates, EHQ and other functional departments, including advice, risk management, governance and tax practices.

The Tax Accountant will support the Tax Compliance and Reporting Specialist with tax reporting, corporate tax compliance across EMEA and be specifically responsible for the UK tax compliance and reporting for APEL.

Key responsibilities:
Consolidated EMEA Corporate Income Tax Provisioning
* Manage master data (e.g. statutory tax rates, foreign exchange rates, etc.) in consolidation, planning or other systems
* Gather and validate forecast and actual data for interim tax provisioning
* Calculate forecast effective tax rate and prepare interim current and deferred tax provision
* Review interim current and deferred tax provision
* Review year-end legal entity tax provisions

UK Corporate tax reporting and compliance
* Calculation and submissions of estimated corporate income tax payments
* Gathering and validating data for corporate income tax compliance
* Preparing corporate income tax computations and returns
* Managing research and development claims
* Managing and reviewing Patent Box claims
* Filing corporate income tax returns with HMRC
* Calculation and submission of final tax payments
* Quarterly and annual tax reporting and provisions for APEL
* Preparation and posting of tax journals and performing reconciliation of corporate income tax accounts
* Preparing tax footnotes and disclosures for statutory accounts of APEL
* Ensuring SAO requirements are met including documenting business process flows for all UK taxes, testing controls and reporting deviations, if any, to the SVP Finance so the SVP meets his responsibilities as SAO
* Identify UK tax opportunities, develop and implement plans to secure any related tax savings
* Be a point of contact for HMRC with respect to UK tax matters and maintain an open and honest relationship with them
* Manage HMRC enquiries, business risk reviews and seek to ensure APEL has a low risk rating from HMRC and thereby ensure minimal enquiries and audit adjustments in the UK
* Manage the UK tax compliance outsource provider.

Experience, skills, qualifications:
* Degree-educated with post graduate Accounting and/or Tax qualifications.
* Significant PQE experience in finance and tax which will include experience across professional firms and multinational environment
* Knowledge and experience of the Pharmaceutical industry is desirable but not required
* Finance and tax experience in complex multinational environments
* Significant experience in UK GAAP, international accounting and IFRS, and some experience of SOX, with experience of tax accounting under IFRS and a solid understanding of deferred tax and effective tax rate reconciliations
* Track record of managing UK Tax compliance and reporting including management of the SAO regime and ideally with knowledge of the UK Patent Box and R&D regimes
* Track-record of leading tax planning processes, working with or leading cross functional teams, and with excellent organisational and collaboration skills
* Fluent in written and verbal business English
* Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills, along with experience of Word processing, PowerPoint, ERP systems (ideally SAP) and consolidation systems
