Payroll Manager to head up team, reporting to a Partner

Your new company
A leading independent firm of Accountants and Financial Advisers supporting individuals, local businesses and multi-national corporations offering specialist advice across the areas of accounting, audit and tax, business support and financial services.

Your new role

* Taking overall responsibility for a portfolio of 250+ payrolls
* Managing portfolio and team members ensuring work completed according to strict deadlines
* Process more complex/technical payrolls from start to finish using IRIS Professional Payroll
* Responsibility for driving technical excellence and ensuring the team are technically up to date
* Supervise and review work of team
* Identify improvements in processes and drive new ways of working
* Meet with existing, new and potential clients
* Dealing with all complex client, employee and HMRC payroll queries including PAYE investigations
* Advising new clients with their payroll set up, HMRC requirements, deadlines and commitments
* Explaining payroll service to potential clients and assist with proposals/quotes
* Employee contractual advice around new joiners, redundancy payments, dismissals
* Advise on more complex areas of SSP, SMP, SPP
* Liaise with Financial Services department to ensure pensions are correctly set up within payroll (qualifying schemes and auto-enrolment)
* Administration of monthly pension uploads and declarations of compliance
* Liaising with Tax department in relation to ex-pat employees/modified payroll schemes


What you'll need to succeed

* CIPP Level 4 or 5 qualification (Foundation Degree)
* Up to date technical knowledge of UK payroll regulations
* Knowledge of pension rules/auto-enrolment
* Experience of working in high volume multi-payroll environments

Personal attributes desired:

* Self starter
* Ability to motivate and guide a small team
* Strong customer service skills
