Client relationships
• takes responsibility and ownership of client relationships at a higher level in the client's business, both in terms of scale of organisation and typically at board level
• responsible for managing many complex client relationships
• manages client assignments that are sizable in both to scope and scale
People/team management
• builds an assignment team by understanding the components and strengths of the wider team and how this fits with the client and the work required
• takes responsibility and ownership for wider team issues
• manages, motivates and coaches employees by inducting effectively, giving regular feedback and completing timely performance reviews
• ensures the effective allocation of resource for assignments, proactively maximises efficiencies and provides development opportunities to the team
Deal management
• advises on deal structuring and any strategic input clients may require
• undertakes deal leader role on larger assignments
• handles larger transactions with no supervision
• effectively manages all parties within the transaction, resolving any conflicts which may arise
Client take on/risk management
• instils a risk management culture within the team as well as mitigating risk appropriately
• ensures bills are raised and costs are collected on a timely basis
• identifies and evaluates risk management issues; mitigating risk appropriately
Networking
• utilises the extensive external network from which to generate and convert leads
• maintains and monitors their network using a structured approach
• builds a personal profile in the external market
• plays a key role in marketing events, originating material and presenting to external audiences
Commercial understanding
• manages situations in order to optimise financial returns for the client and the firm
Business development/winning work/selling
• leads business development initiatives
• leads in selective new client pitch situations
• is active in winning new client work, negotiating and closing sales opportunities with minimum director and partner input.
• suggests innovative solutions whilst pro-actively identifying cross-selling opportunity
Credibility as a Lead Advisor
• leads and facilitates discussions between individuals and groups in either a client or within the firm
Report writing
• reviews final drafts of IM and BP, ensuring broader market issues are included
Technical competence
• exhibits both breadth and depth of technical knowledge
• interpret and analyses complex information, identifying business issues and applying technical knowledge appropriately
