Our client, an independent firm of chartered accountants, are currently growing their tax team and are hence looking for a Tax Assistant. This role is ideal for someone with some tax experience in practice who is looking to progress their career in a role offering genuine career development within a Leading Independent Firm.
The Role
Working in one of the Firm’s three multi-disciplinary workgroups, as a Tax Assistant. The role will include assisting mostly with tax compliance services with some advisory work, for a portfolio of personal and corporate clients, reporting to a Tax Manager but will also give you exposure to seeing the accounts from start to finish.
The role will encompass;
● Preparing annual self-assessment tax returns, calculating tax liabilities, notifying clients of their tax liabilities and submitting tax returns to HMR&C
● Drafting correspondence with HMR&C
● Preparing schedules and supporting information for tax returns
● Drafting correspondence with clients to remind them of outstanding information required and reminding them of potential penalty/interest surcharge implications because of late filings
● Ensuring that all client files are kept up to date with relevant documentation
● Preparing engagement letters and client acceptance information
● Adhering to budgets and deadlines
● Assisting with ad hoc matters such as research, as requested by the Tax Manager
Candidate requirements:
● At least 1 years’ experience of personal tax. Familiarity with CT600s, domicile and residence issues, would be preferable.
● ATT Qualified or studying with a view to study CTA (full study support provided)
● Able to prioritise workload and work to deadlines
● Well organised and client focused
● Flexible working attitude. Must be able to work on several clients’ affairs at the same time and be prepared to work overtime as necessary during busy periods.
