Our client is a major professional services organisation whose tax practice supports large multinational and financial services groups with their global tax compliance, reporting and statutory accounting obligations.
The team achieves this through outsourcing, co-sourcing and technology-led transformation work.
The organisation is currently hiring across several specialist areas,
The practice is looking for experienced Senior Managers with a mix of the following:
* Strong background in tax compliance, automation and reporting, particularly in indirect tax across multiple European jurisdictions
* Good understanding of core finance processes, such as purchase-to-pay, order-to-cash and record-to-report and how these connect with tax
* Experience recommending suitable tax technology to support compliance and reporting activity
* Hands-on experience implementing tax technology, including gathering requirements from tax, IT and end-user perspectives, and producing or reviewing design documentation
* Experience in tax transformation projects, covering governance, and process design and improvement
* Solid project management capability
* Experience managing client relationships and engagements
Useful but non-essential additional skills:
* Understanding of databases, data transmission and data transformation, including SQL
* Experience working with and analysing large datasets
* Experience designing practical, cloud-based tools from a tax standpoint
* Comfortable acting as a bridge between technical/IT colleagues and tax specialists
Key Responsibilities
* Leading delivery of tax transformation and technology engagements, often within a broader finance transformation programme
* Helping clients design, build and roll out automation solutions built specifically for tax needs
* Supporting clients as they design systems that meet tax requirements consistently across different countries
* Collaborating closely with colleagues from transformation, compliance and wider consulting teams
* Helping clients put in place strong global governance and control frameworks
* Contributing ideas to develop new service offerings and delivery approaches
* Building and sustaining strong, trusted client relationships
* Managing the performance of Managers and Assistant Managers, and overseeing offshore delivery teams
* Spotting opportunities for additional client services and bringing in relevant specialists
* Coaching and providing technical guidance to junior team members
* Working in line with internal best practice and policy
Knowledge and Experience
Suitable candidates will be proactive, curious and genuinely committed to their own development. Resilience, accountability and flexibility are important, as is a track record of leading teams, running large engagements and client relationships, delivering results, and managing risk effectively.
Applications are welcome from candidates qualified through experience, as well as those holding relevant tax qualifications (e.g. ATT, CTA, ACA or equivalent). Project management credentials and transformation-specific training (such as Lean Six Sigma) are also valued. Other relevant experience includes:
* A good understanding of how technology and automation can drive efficiency, manage risk and add value
* Experience designing processes, risk frameworks and controls
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate clearly, openly and consistently
* A high degree of personal ownership and accountability, with resilience and a positive approach under pressure
* Strong analytical skills, able to break down problems, investigate root causes and bring together information to reach conclusions
* A track record of building trust and reputation through the quality of your work
* Familiarity with tax and accounting compliance processes, such as direct/indirect tax returns and statutory accounting
