Senior UK/US Tax Manager / £90,000 - £110,000 / UK Remote / Sign-off
Our client is a small yet established international tax firm looking for a technically strong Senior Manager to help lead its UK/US private client team.
This is a hands-on leadership role focused on technical delivery, staff management and workflow - not business development. You’ll work within a relatively flat structure, taking ownership of client work while helping alleviate some of the responsibilities currently held by senior leadership.
Ideally, you’ll be able to review both UK and US returns. However, a very strong US tax professional could be considered if they can guide the team on UK returns for US-connected clients before final sign-off.
The role
● Reviewing and signing US tax returns, initially with support
● Reviewing UK returns and gradually taking on UK signing responsibilities
● Managing workflow, deadlines and the quality of work across the team
● Answering technical questions, conducting performance reviews and developing staff
● Managing a portfolio of UK/US clients and a small amount of associated advisory work
● Helping oversee approximately 210 US and 150-160 UK returns annually, alongside other managers
About you
● Strong UK/US private client tax experience at Manager or Senior Manager level
● Able to review and sign complex US individual tax returns
● Good knowledge of Forms 1040 and 1040-NR, FBARs, 3520, 3520-A, 5471, 8621/PFIC, 8865 and 8938
● Confident managing staff, workflow and technical queries
● EA or CPA qualified
● ATT, CTA or strong practical UK tax experience would be beneficial
The firm offers a discretionary performance bonus and a separate bonus linked to new business. There is no expectation to bring a book of clients, although the role could develop in a more commercial direction if desired.
