A leading professional services firm is growing its tax compliance and reporting practice and is looking for an experienced Director to join the team. The practice supports large and multinational organisations with global tax compliance, reporting and statutory accounting obligations, using a combination of outsourcing, co-sourcing, process transformation and technology.
Clients benefit from deep compliance expertise and a modern digital delivery model, helping them achieve better visibility, greater efficiency and stronger risk management as they move toward more sustainable, technology-enabled ways of managing tax obligations.
This is a period of strong growth for the team, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to work as part of a well-established network with an international reach, across a broad client base ranging from mid-market businesses to large listed groups, spanning sectors such as public sector, real estate and financial services.
About You
At Director level, you will be proactive, curious and committed to your own development, with the resilience to adapt across a varied and fast-paced client portfolio. You will bring proven experience leading successful teams, strong communication skills and excellent attention to detail. You'll be comfortable building relationships and engaging confidently with stakeholders at all levels, and you'll have a track record of identifying commercial opportunities and converting them into new business.
Key Responsibilities
* Build and maintain strong relationships across a portfolio of clients, drawing on internal networks to address their needs
* Lead the delivery of outsourced tax reporting engagements with technical rigour and efficiency
* Lead corporate tax compliance engagements and manage outsourcing contracts
* Help clients improve efficiency through the compliance process, strengthening controls and adopting technology
* Lead teams advising on the tax implications of new legislation and responding to ad hoc technical queries
* Develop clear, well-considered solutions to complex problems
* Operate confidently with senior stakeholders internally and externally, while remaining approachable to peers and junior colleagues
* Identify additional services clients may need and connect them with relevant specialists
* Lead business development activity, progressing opportunities through to contract negotiation and sign-off
* Lead teams supporting clients with group and statutory tax reporting, including project management of global outsourced contracts under US GAAP and IFRS
* Coach and support the development of team members
* Maintain a positive, resilient approach under pressure
* Build and sustain an effective professional network
Qualifications and Skills
* Qualified by experience or holding a recognised tax qualification (e.g. ATT/CTA/ACA or equivalent); tax reporting/accounting experience is highly desirable
* Strong working knowledge of UK corporate tax legislation and compliance, particularly for large and complex groups
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adaptable across different audiences
* High attention to detail, balancing technical accuracy with a client-focused approach
* Strong leadership skills and a positive, resilient attitude under pressure
* Ability to foster collaborative relationships and value diverse perspectives within a team
* Strong project management skills, able to manage both your own workload and that of others
* Experience coaching and mentoring team members to support their development
* Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify core issues and evaluate information effectively
