Netherlands | Hybrid Working
A global market-leading multinational is seeking an experienced International Tax Director to join its EMEA tax leadership team.
This is a high-profile role within a sophisticated international tax function, offering exposure to complex cross-border advisory work, transfer pricing strategy, controversy matters, M&A activity and regional tax planning across a large multinational group operating in more than 150 countries. The successful candidate will lead a team based in the Netherlands and act as a key business partner to senior stakeholders across the region.
The Role
Reporting into the Head of International Tax, responsibilities will include:
• Leading international tax strategy across the EMEA region
• Managing transfer pricing policy, strategy and controversy matters
• Advising on business restructurings, supply chain changes and operating model projects
• Supporting M&A transactions, due diligence and post-deal integration activities
• Managing tax audits, disputes, APAs and tax rulings
• Providing tax leadership on large-scale business initiatives
• Working closely with finance, treasury, legal and operational leadership teams
• Leading and developing a small, experienced tax team
The role is primarily advisory and strategic in nature, rather than compliance-focused.
What We're Looking For
We are interested in speaking with candidates who have:
• Significant international corporate tax experience gained in industry and/or Big 4
• Strong transfer pricing and international tax technical expertise
• Experience advising on complex multinational structures and transactions
• Previous leadership or people management experience
• Strong commercial awareness and stakeholder management skills
• The ability to operate comfortably in a dynamic international environment
Candidates may already be operating at Director level or be an experienced Senior Manager ready to take the next step.
Location & Working Arrangements
Whilst the organisation offers considerable flexibility, the successful candidate must be based in the Netherlands.
The tax team is located in Heerlen, and the successful candidate will be expected to spend 1-2 days per week in Heerlen during the first few months to support onboarding, build relationships and integrate with the team and wider business.
Once established in the role, there is significant flexibility to work remotely, with office attendance reducing accordingly. Candidates can therefore be based anywhere within the Netherlands, provided they are willing and able to travel to Heerlen as required.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This is an opportunity to join one of the most highly regarded in-house tax functions in the market, where tax plays a visible and influential role in major commercial and strategic decisions.
The position offers a combination of technical complexity, business partnering, leadership responsibility and long-term career development within a genuinely global organisation.
