A leading global law firm is looking to appoint a Partnership Tax Manager to join its finance and tax function in London. This is a high-profile role supporting the firm’s partners and senior stakeholders across UK and international tax matters, with a particular focus on partnership tax compliance, partner tax affairs, tax reporting and advisory support.
The role would suit a technically strong tax professional with experience in partnership tax, ideally gained within a law firm, professional services firm, accountancy practice or another partnership-led environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage UK partnership tax compliance, including partnership tax returns, partner tax statements and related reporting obligations.
• Support the preparation and review of partner tax computations, profit allocations, capital account movements and basis period calculations.
• Act as a key point of contact for partners on tax matters, ensuring clear, accurate and commercially sensitive communication.
• Work closely with finance, payroll, partner affairs and international tax teams on partner remuneration, drawings, distributions and tax reserving.
• Support international partner tax matters, including cross-border assignments, overseas tax filings, withholding tax, social security and permanent establishment considerations.
• Liaise with HMRC and external advisers on partnership tax queries, disclosures and compliance matters.
• Assist with tax payments, partner tax reserves, cash flow forecasting and tax equalisation processes where applicable.
• Provide technical input on new partner admissions, retirements, lateral hires, secondments and partner mobility.
• Support tax governance, risk management and process improvement across the partnership tax function.
• Contribute to wider tax projects, including international expansion, restructuring, systems improvements and automation initiatives.
Candidate Profile
• CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification preferred.
• Strong UK partnership tax experience, ideally within a law firm, professional services firm, Big Four/top-tier practice or partnership environment.
• Good technical knowledge of UK personal tax, partnership tax and partner profit allocation principles.
• Exposure to international partner tax, expatriate tax, mobility or cross-border tax matters would be beneficial.
• Comfortable dealing with senior stakeholders, including partners and finance leadership.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage complex tax data and deadlines.
• Clear communicator who can explain technical tax matters in a practical and commercial way.
• Proactive, organised and comfortable working in a fast-paced professional services environment.
