We are scaling rapidly, and our expanding Tax team is looking for a Manager Trade Tax & Indirect Tax Compliance to join us at our global headquarters in Ghent.
This newly created role sits at the heart of an agile, international biotech environment. You will play a critical part in building a best-in-class indirect tax and trade compliance function, partnering across the business as we expand globally and launch new products.
Your Responsibilities
As Manager Trade Tax & ITX Compliance, you will:
• Partner closely with the Indirect Tax team, Supply Chain, Finance, and other global functions to support all trade and indirect tax compliance activities.
• Coordinate and maintain customs authorizations, including management of our Inward Processing Relief (IPR) license and related reporting.
• Manage day-to-day collaboration with external advisors and review outsourced VAT returns, Intrastat filings, and real-time indirect tax reporting.
• Monitor business changes (new products, new jurisdictions) and assess their impact on trade taxes, proposing and implementing necessary changes.
• Support tax automation and systems configuration in Oracle Cloud, working with advisors, Finance, and BIS to define requirements and develop solutions.
• Develop internal controls, standard work, and policies that strengthen trade tax and ITX compliance.
• Deliver internal trainings on technical topics, system updates, and process improvements.
• Lead trade and indirect tax compliance audits and build strong relationships with tax authorities.
• Track international tax and customs developments (including tariffs) and proactively communicate impacts to the business.
About You
• 5+ years of international indirect tax experience, gained in both industry and consultancy.
• Experience in biotech, pharma, or life sciences (preferred).
• A degree in Law, Tax, Accounting, or Finance.
• Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset.
• The ability to think strategically while enjoying hands-on execution.
• Confidence working independently in a fast-moving environment.
• Knowledge of ERP systems (ideally Oracle Cloud) and enthusiasm for tax digitization.
• Fluency in Dutch/Flemish and English.
• Availability to work from our Ghent office (approx. 2 days per week).
