I am recruiting with a leading international law firm with a strong record of growth through strategic acquisitions and organic expansion.
The International Tax Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of the firm’s international tax affairs, with a particular focus on partnership taxation, cross-border structuring, and post-acquisition integration. This is a pivotal role within a dynamic environment, requiring a hands-on tax professional who can navigate complex multi-jurisdictional issues and support the firm’s continued growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage the firm’s international tax compliance obligations across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
• Provide expert advice on partnership taxation, including profit allocation, partner remuneration, and international partner mobility.
• Advise on the tax implications of cross-border transactions, mergers, and acquisitions.
• Liaise with external tax advisers and local finance teams to coordinate global compliance and reporting.
• Support tax due diligence and structuring for international acquisitions.
• Lead tax integration planning for newly acquired entities, ensuring alignment with the firm’s partnership model.
• Review and optimise international group structures for tax efficiency and operational alignment.
• Ensure compliance with transfer pricing documentation requirements and interoffice charging policies.
• Maintain robust tax risk management processes and documentation.
• Monitor changes in international tax legislation and assess their impact on the firm’s operations.
• Support partner and management education on relevant tax developments.
Skills & Experience
• Qualified accountant or tax adviser (ACA / CTA or equivalent).
• Significant post-qualification experience in partnership taxation, ideally within a professional services or law firm environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of UK and international tax principles applicable to partnerships and LLPs.
• Proven experience managing cross-border tax issues and coordinating with advisers in multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience supporting M&A tax due diligence and integration projects.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex tax concepts for non-specialist stakeholders.
• Proactive, commercially focused, and able to operate autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience within an international law firm or Big 4 environment.
• Exposure to US partnership tax principles or other key international tax regimes.
• Familiarity with transfer pricing, BEPS, and OECD frameworks.
