The Cayman Islands, a British Overseas Territory in the western Caribbean, is home to one of the world’s leading offshore financial centres.
Our Big 4 client is looking for a Senior US Business Tax Manager to join its Cayman-based financial services team, advising and delivering complex US tax compliance and advisory work for global financial services clients. This includes hedge and private equity funds, insurers, and ILS entities.
Life in Cayman appeals to many British and American expats – a slower pace, better work-life balance, and year-round sunshine, all far removed from the intensity of city living.
The Opportunity:
You’ll lead US tax compliance and advisory engagements for hedge funds and private equity clients – from fund structuring and reporting through to partnership returns and investor allocations. You’ll oversee detailed securities analysis, review complex tax adjustments, and manage day-to-day delivery across multiple accounts.
The role involves advising clients on domestic federal, international, and state tax matters, ensuring their structures align with both business and compliance objectives.
Key Responsibilities
● Lead US tax compliance and advisory work for hedge funds, private equity funds, and other investment vehicles
● Review partnership tax returns and Schedules K-1 and K-3, ensuring accuracy and completeness
● Oversee securities analysis and book-tax differences (e.g. wash sales, constructive sales, straddles)
● Advise on fund structuring, cross-border taxation, and efficient US tax strategies
● Build and manage client relationships while mentoring and developing junior team members
● Manage multiple client portfolios and deliver high-quality work across teams and locations
What You’ll Need
● 7 – 8+ years of US tax experience, ideally in asset management or financial services
● US CPA or Enrolled Agent
● Deep technical knowledge of partnership and fund taxation (including 1065/K-1 reporting)
Why relocate to the Cayman Islands?
A world-class financial centre. 0% income tax. Global clients. And a lifestyle defined by balance – high-quality work without the burnout, and weekends spent by the sea instead of the screen.
If you’re an experienced US tax professional looking for something different, this is a rare opportunity to do complex, global work in a setting that lets you breathe a little.
At Blackden Consulting Recruitment, we specialise in helping US tax professionals make the move abroad. From the first conversation through to you landing on the islands for your first day, we’ll guide you through the process.
