Indirect Tax Manager - Retail Sector (Advisory Focus)

£95,000 + 12% Bonus | London | Hybrid Working | Permanent

A leading retail business is seeking an experienced Indirect Tax Manager to join its high-performing tax team. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a fast-paced advisory role that supports strategic decision-making across a global operation.

The position focuses on indirect tax advisory and risk management, working closely with the VAT compliance lead and supporting two junior team members (not directly managed). The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the direction of the indirect tax function and partnering with stakeholders across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

* Monitor global indirect tax developments and assess their impact on business operations.
* Lead indirect tax risk management initiatives, identifying savings opportunities and mitigation strategies.
* Manage communications with HMRC and other tax authorities, including audits and enquiries.
* Collaborate with internal teams to support new business initiatives and ensure accurate VAT reporting.
* Work alongside the VAT compliance lead to implement legislative changes and maintain compliance.
* Deliver VAT training and promote tax awareness across the wider business.
* Contribute to a culture of inclusion and support diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies.

Candidate Profile:

* Significant experience in indirect tax advisory, ideally within the retail or e-commerce sector.
* Strong technical knowledge of UK and international VAT.
* Proven ability to manage tax authority interactions and deliver practical, commercial solutions.
