Your responsibilities as an R&D IT Manager
In this role, you will be responsible for leading detailed technical discussions with clients, helping them understand what qualifies as R&D for tax purposes and guiding them through the claims process. You’ll prepare and review high-quality technical documentation to accurately explain clients’ R&D activities, while also coaching and training junior team members to support their development. Alongside project delivery, you will play an active role in business development by identifying and securing new opportunities, and you’ll assist in liaising with HMRC to resolve R&D-related queries. This is an excellent opportunity to combine technical expertise, client interaction, and leadership skills in a fast-growing and impactful area of tax.
Requirements
We are looking for a motivated professional with previous R&D experience. Ideally, you will have a background in the IT industry, particularly as a software developer or engineer, with experience in the Financial Services sector considered a strong advantage. You’ll be eager to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving methods of claim preparation, with excellent writing skills and a sharp eye for detail. Strong communication skills and confidence in public speaking are essential, as you’ll engage directly with clients and colleagues at all levels. A self-starter with a proven track record of taking initiative, you’ll also bring a collaborative, team-focused approach and the ability to contribute to a supportive, high-performing environment.
