Financial Reporting and Assurance Accountant

Hays are delighted to partner with this regulator based in Birmingham who are looking for an experienced Financial Reporting and Assurance Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your new role
As the Financial Reporting and Assurance Accountant, you will be a technically strong to ensure accurate review and monitoring of financial information provided by companies for compliance on relevant reporting requirements.
Some of the key responsibilities include:

* Performing technical reviews of companies' annual reports and accounts, making judgements on whether there is possible material non-compliance with relevant reporting requirements.
* Analysing company responses, undertaking additional research as necessary
* Recommending regulatory action if necessary
* Preparing initial correspondence to companies for review.
* Preparing summaries on cases for publication.
* Maintaining and developing relationships with internal and external parties
* Maintaining and developing technical knowledge and understanding of accounting standards
* Carrying out technical, organisational and administrative tasks and projects when necessary

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in the position, you will:

* Be a fully qualified member of ICAEW, ACCA, ICAS or CAI (or equivalents) and have:
* Significant post-qualification experience of applying IFRS and UK GAAP, ideally at manager level
* Have extensive knowledge of corporate reporting requirements and best practice.
* Have excellent research and analytic skills.
* Have a good understanding of the regulatory environment and regulatory frameworks
