VAT Manager

Your new company
This is a highly regarded and well known global technology business based in Manchester City Centre, who are recruiting a VAT Manager to take a lead on all indirect taxes for the EMEA region of the business. The company is headquartered in The US and has significant revenues exceeding £2b per annum, employing 1000's of individuals worldwide and owning a portfolio of several highly recognisable and successful brands. Your new role
This role will see you manage all VAT and Indirect Taxes throughout the EMEA region for the business, working closely with the experienced Tax Director and Director of Accounting, and working as a part of the wider International Tax team. You will be a subject-matter expert across VAT and manage the relationship with HMRC whilst minimising tax risk across the organisation.

Your responsibilities will include

* Prepare and review VAT returns and computations across multiple jurisdictions within the EMEA region.
* Handle the reconciliation of VAT accounts, along with identifying and calculating errors and discrepancies.
* Review indirect tax related transactions, including invoices, receipts, and financial documents to support audits.
* Be up-to-date with changes in VAT legislation and general tax laws, and communicate them with the wider team and business.
* Provide guidance to colleagues, departments, and stakeholders on Indirect tax queries including the likes of import tax, VAT, Customs and Duties.
* Manage relationships with HMRC and external advisors to assist with the likes of audits, disclosures and compliance.
* Assist with the implementation of systems and projects to improve operational efficiency when reporting on VAT matters.
* Provide input and advice to senior stakeholders and the wider business on VAT implications for proposed or existing business strategies.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, you will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or a specialist tax qualification), and have good VAT / Indirect Tax knowledge, ideally with experience covering the EMEA region. You will be motivated to progress in your career, and be a strong communicator with the ability to influence others and advise senior stakeholders. You will be up-to-date with current news around VAT law and able to explain the impact of this on the wider business.
