The Role: Working for a leading Chartered Financial Planning firm, you will be responsible for a highly varied portfolio of High Net Worth tax clients, supporting them with their compliance requirements and advising them on a wide range of tax advice matters. This role is based just outside of Bristol (BS20) and they are happy to provide flexibility regarding home working and hours worked.

Putting the clients’ goals at the heart of the process they deliver comprehensive and bespoke financial planning, investment and portfolio management, tax and estate planning and advice on giving and philanthropy, translating complex financial issues and strategies for high net worth clients into workable solutions.

The Team: The in-house Tax Team provide tax advice and compliance for a wide range of High Net Worth individuals and trusts. The majority of the team’s work covers compliance and also income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax and pension planning advice, but they do also provide business services such as accounts and payroll.

The team is made up of qualified tax and accounting professionals, working a mixture of full-time and part-time, who have a wide range of skills and experience. The team works closely with the financial planning teams to provide a completely integrated approach to all aspects of clients’ financial affairs.

Responsibilities:

· Run a portfolio of high net worth clients, taking a pro-active approach to tax planning (across all taxes) as well as being reactive to client queries as and when they arise.

· Prepare and review personal tax returns, ensuring compliance deadlines are met and where necessary, ensuring beneficial claims and elections are made within deadlines e.g. PPR, holdover, EIS.

· Support colleagues in the Financial Planning teams with ad-hoc tax queries.

· Identify opportunities for new client work via internal and external networks

Skills and Experience required:

· Ideally, a chartered tax adviser (CTA or similar) or a chartered accountant specialising in tax (ACA or similar), or willing to complete a qualification.

· Experience working with high net worth individuals

· Excellent understanding of all personal taxes – income, capital gains and inheritance tax.

· Some knowledge of the following would be beneficial, but not essential - overseas tax planning for non-resident and non-domiciled clients, tax planning with trusts, tax related issues on investments (including insurance bonds, VCTs, EIS/SEIS/CITR, offshore funds (reporting and non-reporting) etc).

· Great organisational and time management skills with an ‘all hands-on deck’ approach in busy periods.

· Confident and relaxed with clients

· Technologically adept (experience of using Digita would be beneficial, but not essential)

· Experience in corporate and business tax (PAYE, VAT, CT etc) would be a great added extra but not essential.
