Director of International Tax - Global Law Firm, London

A world renowned global law firm is looking to recruit a International Tax Director to join their London office.

This is a key Director position, reporting to the Global Head of Tax, this senior tax position is responsible for tax strategy, planning and timely tax compliance on an EME/APAC basis, and high-level customer service to partners in relation to their tax interface with the Firm. You will need an energetic drive to minimise tax exposure and to continuously improve service level is required. Qualified candidates have a proven track-record of managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, dynamic global business environment.

Role

● Pro-actively manage timely tax compliance and planning in all designated jurisdictions. Works closely with outside tax advisors (Big 4 and others) in various EMEA/APAC jurisdictions.
● Responsible for assisting with timely reporting of all annual partner tax reporting statements.
● Evaluating tax aspects of new business opportunities (Acquisitions, lateral hires, divestments etc.)
● Evaluating new technologies to streamline processes and/or improve information flow and improve efficiency. This will include the continuous development of the partner portal.
● Supervise and develop 1-2 direct reports.
● Cross-functional collaboration with other departments to provide tax insights and support in the decision making process.
● Remain current on new tax legislation in relevant jurisdictions to mitigate tax-related risks.
● Attend seminars, conferences and generally keep up to the highest level in terms of required expertise.
● Pro-actively manage tax audits in all relevant jurisdictions and mitigate claims to the extent possible.
● Keen understanding of the international VAT framework, including the differences in VAT systems across various countries and regions. ● Profound understanding of the fundamental principles of VAT including input/output tax.
● Proficiency in utilizing systematic on-line research tools and methodologies to address specific tax-related questions or challenges; Ability to define clear research objectives and gather, analyse, interpret and disseminate findings.
● Practical experience with Global Transfer Pricing Policies and implementation
● Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
● Ability to communicate complex tax concepts internationally and to non-tax stakeholders to foster collaboration, enhance transparency and build trust, ensure understanding and gain support across various departments within the organization.
● Ability to prioritise tasks based on urgency, importance and alignment with strategic objectives; quickly adapts to changing priorities and unforeseen challenges, maintaining flexibility and responsiveness to evolving needs of business

Education:

●Qualified in CTA, ACA, or ACCA or equivalent

Experience:

● At least ten years relevant experience
● Including management experience in a similar capacity
● Experience in a law firm or other professional services firm
● Detailed knowledge of US and UK partnership tax legislation
● Experience with international partnership tax issues required
