ROLE: Indirect Tax Manager

SALARY: Up-to £60,000

LOCATION: Midlands (Hybrid - 2 days per week in the Office)

THE ROLE:

An exciting role working for a well-known global retail group has come to the market. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with some in-house experience OR candidates in practice looking to make a move in-house to be part of a motivated, international team.

As the Indirect Tax Manager, you will support the Head of Tax in partnering with local business units, will focus on ensuring indirect tax requirements are met and ensure that the groups tax policies and procedures are followed. This is a new role within the organisation and represents a great opportunity for a technically strong indirect tax professional with excellent people skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* The preparation and submission of UK and overseas VAT returns on a timely basis.
* Reconciliation of the VAT accounts.
* Filing proper Intrastat and other VAT statistical returns on a timely basis for the UK and EU entities.
* Process owner for VAT processes across the group, ensuring appropriate financial controls are in place.
* Understanding future indirect tax landscape to ensure the business is prepared for any forthcoming statutory changes.
* Dealing with day-to-day VAT queries from the business and carrying out in-house VAT audits
* Oversight of product VAT liability.
* Managing VAT audits and enquiries in the UK and overseas.
* Oversight of other indirect taxes including Excise, Customs Duty, and Plastic Packaging Tax.

Along with being a qualified accountant, CTA qualified (desirable) OR qualified by experience, success in the role will require strong technical knowledge of indirect tax, together with a growth mindset and willingness to learn and develop within the role.
