I am working with a services business based in Central London who are sourcing for a Head of UK&I Tax to join their team. You will manage one Tax Reporting Accountant in the team and have overall responsibility for all taxes (direct, indirect & employment).
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
* Ensuring timely and accurate preparation and submission of all required tax returns, including VAT, corporate tax, and other relevant taxes. Working closely and collaboratively with the Finance Operations team and specifically the Tax Reporting Accountant.
* Reviewing and approving group US GAAP corporate tax reports and calculations. Calculating and assessing tax risk reserves.
* Ensuring the local UK GAAP corporate tax accounting is completed in a timely and accurate manner for the annual UK statutory accounts.
* Managing compliance with the SAO requirements, maintaining adequate tax accounting systems and controls. Overseeing the SAO certification process.
* Staying up to date on changes in UK and Irish tax legislation and assessing their potential impact on UK&I operations. You will proactively provide regular updates to the relevant teams, the Head of Finance and Group Tax.
* Working closely with finance, legal, and other teams to integrate tax considerations into business strategies.
* Conducting customer contract reviews to assess tax implications, protect the business from tax risks and optimize tax efficiency, including managing withholding tax requirements.
* Leading the business on its approach to IR35 and compliance with off-payroll working rules.
* Managing from a tax perspective the UK&I impact of M&A transactions, reorganisations, dividend planning and the international tax aspects of commercial transactions.
* Leading corporate entity rationalisation projects to simplify and streamline the corporate structure.
* Working with other group functions to ensure that the group has reasonable and robust procedures in place to meeting the Corporate Criminal Offences legislative requirements.
About you:
* You will be self-motivated and driven. You will bring excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills to this role and have a proven ability to work both collaboratively across multiple functions and independently.
* Bachelor's degree and/or master's degree in a relevant field, a professional accounting qualification and/or professional tax qualification (e.g., ATT or CTA) is required.
* Experience within UK taxation, including corporate tax, payroll, tax, VAT, and SAO compliance is preferred.
* Proven knowledge of UK taxation laws.
* Due to the nature of our business, employment tax experience is required.
