Purpose of the role:

To provide indirect tax advisory and compliance support across the Group. The role includes supporting the Group Indirect Tax Lead in liaising with Tax authorities and other external bodies to ensure global VAT compliance obligations are met.

Accountabilities:

* Provision of UK indirect Tax advice to the Group on operations, capital investment, business acquisitions and disposals. Raising awareness of changes in VAT treatment resulting from legislative changes and identify opportunities to reduce VAT leakage
* Review and sign off VAT returns for the UK VAT Group
* Review and sign off balance sheet VAT reconciliations on a monthly basis
* Close liaison with the in-house Tax Compliance team in Poland to ensure business and legislative changes are reflected in monthly tax workings and that relevant business areas are kept informed of requirements, assisting them in making any required amendments
* Raising awareness of indirect tax across the Group through training and building your own network
* Maintain and develop knowledge to ensure the Groups continuing compliance with UK statutory obligations and identification of potential planning opportunities
* Ensure compliance with the Groups SAO and risk control environment
* Assisting the Group Indirect Tax Lead in special projects and in executing the Groups tax strategy

Key Relationships / Interfaces:

* Attend industry and representative body tax meetings to identify threats and opportunities in the Tax area.
* Management of relationships with the UK Tax Authority and other external bodies
* Work with external advisers and other departments as required to execute commercial projects with tax implications
* Develop effective relationships with key stakeholders to ensure UK compliance obligations are met
* Liaise with Tax Compliance team in Poland to ensure any legislative changes are reflected in compliance obligations

Key experience/background:

* CTA qualified or similar; or currently undertaking CTA or similar
* SAO Legislation
* Customs and Excise experience
* Tour operators margin scheme experience
* At least 3 years' experience in a Tax advisory firm (preferably big 4 firm) or in-house VAT Team;
* An ability to take responsibility for assigned tasks with minimal supervision;
* Superb stakeholder management and strong communication skills with an ability to explain technically complex matters to non-technical stakeholders;
* Strong people skills with the ability to build network and relationships across finance and the wider areas;
* Experience in providing support, guidance and assistance to team members
