Purpose of the position
Reporting to the Director - FP&A, the Senior Tax Manager will be responsible for managing tax compliance and tax risk for the UK&I Division. With a focus on corporate taxes, VAT, transfer pricing and other indirect taxes with experience and knowledge of Irish and Australian tax, you'll work closely with other areas of the business to ensure that our processes are tax compliant, as well as ensuring that all corporation tax reporting is delivered in line with requirements. You'll be involved in projects and business initiatives to evolve our processes, providing guidance to ensure that tax requirements are understood and well-managed for UK and Ireland. You'll also liaise with HMRC on tax matters and help to manage tax risk. As part of the wider tax team, you will lead on tax related projects and contribute to the overall success of the team.
Accountabilities
The role is accountable for leading tax planning, tax strategies for both UK and Ireland and driving the following:
* Maintenance of tax compliance for the UK&I Divisional entities within the scope of local and international laws and requirements including the control of tax filing accuracy & timeliness and documentation of all tax returns and cross-border transactions.
* Lead on transfer pricing related matters including the development, implementation, and maintenance of transfer pricing policies for the UK&I Division
* Closely monitor and respond appropriately to material Government policy and legislative developments, ensuring implications are fully understood by stakeholders
* Main point of interface between Group Tax, UK&I Division and Segment Finance teams on all tax related matters.
* Manage the accuracy of tax accounting, forecasting, and reporting of all UK&I Divisional entities in SAP BPC.
* Provide guidance in relation to cash tax payments and forecasting R&D credits, capital allowances, etc
* Work with third party auditors to ensure the smooth running of all UK&I taxation audits
* Advice on the tax impact of business transactions involving multiple jurisdictions (for example, cross border issues, double taxation treaties, transfer pricing, withholding taxes, VAT)
* Provide advisory support in the production of financial statements from a tax reporting and disclosure perspective
* Managing all tax related communications with HRMC including regular meetings with tax authorities and lead internal teams to handle tax litigation in a tax-efficient manner.
* Play an active role as a member of the global tax team within the relationships of the group entities as well as in the matters such as group structure, transfer pricing, implementation of new projects/programs in the UK&I Division.
* Partner with UK&I FP&A, business finance, legal, Treasury, accounting, and other functions to communicate, execute, protect, and fund various initiatives which aim to ultimately maximize cash for the Division and Group.
* Able to collaborate and lead tax projects with Corporate and Regional Tax.
* Provide tax related technical accounting guidance to the Finance and Business teams and ensure guidance is being consistently applied across Segments.
Key activities
* Work closely with Segment Finance teams and Group Control to develop and implement sound financial planning and reporting framework that contributes to predictable financial performance of the business.
* Implementation, monitoring and reporting against performance metrics
* Provision of finance insights to the UK&I DLT to enable sound decision making
* Develop and implement clear financial planning and reporting standards for the Segment Finance teams
* Promotes the capture of best practice and knowledge sharing
Experience
We are looking for an experienced Tax professional with a track-record built up in an international project environment, a sizeable FM, outsourcing or a Property Development business.
You are experienced, energized, capable, analytically, numerically strong individual and will ideally have some or all of the following:
* ACA or CTA (or equivalent) qualified, with strong UK corporate tax and VAT knowledge
* Substantial Tax Management experience in a large accountancy practice, or in-house tax function of a large multinational company.
* Proven track record and experience of dealing with HMRC on tax issues
* Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret the impact of tax legislation on the business, along with a strong commercial and business awareness
* Knowledge of civil engineering, construction and/or general contracting business.
* Experience in producing and reviewing tax disclosures under IFRS in the financial statements
* Excellent communication skills, being able to explain the tax consequences to the relevant business areas, building credibility with both internal and external contacts
* Skilled user of ERP systems such as SAP
