The Tax Manager role is primarily responsible for the management of the Division and UK tax reporting and compliance requirements. The role will also involve assisting on ad-hoc international tax advisory projects.
The role will be performed as part of the Tax Team whose objectives are to ensure the Division is compliant with its tax reporting obligations and provide information, advice and support to internal decision makers and external parties.
Responsibilities
Reporting
* Responsible for the preparation of group tax disclosures and associated workstreams for full year and interim reporting cycles, being the lead contact for external auditors and the wider finance team.
* Preparation of the group effective tax rate and cash flow forecasts.
* Responsible for the review of monthly reported tax numbers, challenging the business as required and developing a process to accurately monitor performance against forecasts.
* Working closely with finance managers to provide continuing education on current and deferred tax reporting under IFRS.
* Preparation of the UK statutory accounts disclosures.
* Process improvements for greater accuracy and increased efficiency across all aspects of Tax Reporting.
Compliance
* Responsible for the accurate and timely submissions of the UK tax returns and associated filings, such as CT61, group payment arrangements, applicable claims and elections.
* Drive process improvements and efficiency of UK compliance processes.
* Assist with dealing with HMRC in all matters such as risk assessment, correspondence and enquires as required.
* Responsible for the submission of the Division's country by country report, filed in the UK and monitoring of global compliance with local notification and submissions.
Advisory & Transfer Pricing
* Assist with the preparation of the Division's transfer pricing master and local files.
* Assist on acquisitions, disposals and business restructuring as required.
* Provide ad-hoc advice to the business across all taxes, working with external advisors as required.
* Monitoring global tax developments to identify risks and opportunities and propose actions in a proactive manner.
Skills and Experience
* ACA and/or CTA qualified.
* Sufficient post qualification experience gained within a multinational group or professional firm with a global tax reporting role.
* Technical tax accounting knowledge under IFRS.
* Strong project management skills.
* Understanding of complex business issues and strategies.
* Committed, focused and able to influence and manage stakeholders.
* Comfortable working in ambiguous situations
* Persuasive negotiator able to achieve consensus amongst different opinions.
* Experience in Cognos desirable.
