I am Partnered with an instantly recognizable Telecoms provider in order to find an Indirect Tax Manager. The role is high profile and requires extensive VAT knowledge, a deep understanding of risk, a highly commercial approach to decision making, and the ability to work effectively with a broad range of senior stakeholders. The ability to manage shifting priorities is essential.
Specific accountabilities include:
* Oversight of the companies' outsourced VAT compliance. Including dotted line/indirect management responsibility of relevant non-JV personnel involved to ensure delivery against a range of project and compliance milestones.
* Maintaining and increasing the annual VAT savings that result from negotiated VAT settlements with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC). This requires management and negotiation skills to positively engage senior colleagues to achieve VAT savings and efficiencies.
* Successfully managing VAT dispute resolution processes with HMRC. Requiring sound judgment, and an understanding of risk management including effective management of external advisors and being the interface between them and business stakeholders.
* Signing off the VAT treatment of new products and business channels and obtaining VAT rulings with HMRC where appropriate. Liaising effectively in writing and in person with UK HM Treasury and the European Commission on new VAT legislation, and the application of national and EU policy to telecoms and digital services.
* Maintaining and constantly improving compliance, SOX, audit, and anti-fraud processes applicable to the £ 4 billion annual VAT throughput in TUK. Including, liaising with the senior UK finance teams and external auditors. Ensuring adherence to the UK's Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) requirements.
* Working cooperatively and effectively with business partners to ensure all VAT-related processes and maintained, reviewed, and regularly enhanced.
