An exciting opportunity to join a market leading chemicals company for a Tax Manager. This position will be in Milan, Italy. In this role you will report to the Tax Counsel for South Europe who ultimately reports to the VP of Tax based in the US.
Responsibilities:
* Responsible for the timely and accurate tax filings in Italy, including calculation of taxes, preparation of tax filings and processing of tax payments in connection with corporate income tax, IMU tax, certificazione unica, 770 form and F24 payments etc…
* Responsible for coordinating with local advisors to ensure for the timely and accurate tax filings in Spain, including calculation of taxes, preparation of tax filings and processing of tax payments in connection with corporate income tax and other tax related forms such as form 115, etc.
* Responsible for updating the transfer pricing policy and local transfer pricing files for all Italian and Spanish entities companies
* Draft internal notes or memos in English to explain Italian and Spanish tax issues or advise on Italian and Spanish tax matters
* Lead all ongoing tax audits in Italy and Spain: coordinate with other departments to centralize the flow of information in the context of the tax audits, review the information provided, check adequacy and reliability and provide timely replies to the tax administration's requests for information; lead meetings with the tax audit team and/or coordinate with local advisors for local audit support when needed
* Draft litigation memos (replies to reassessment notices, memos to local tax Courts…) or correspondence with the tax administration
* Prepare tax reporting memos (FIN 48, local country questionnaires, Valuation allowance memo…) and the quarterly tax reporting packages
* Identify potential tax planning ideas in Italy and Spain and assist South Europe Tax Counsel in implementing them, including financing, repatriation and restructuring transactions.
* Keep up to date with Italian and Spanish tax legislation and assist the South Europe Tax Counsel in escalating to management (locally and outside of these countries) all relevant changes in tax legislation
Requirements:
* Typically 8-10 years work experience within the Big Four, or corporate multi-national environment with exposures to various tax matters in Italy and Spain
* Chartered Accountant (Dottore Commercialista Abilitato)
* Italian native language, English fluent speaker with solid English writing skills
* Experience with managing people with functional or cross functional lines
* Experience with Tax Accounting under US GAAP is preferred but not critical
* A detail orientated, hands-on and analytical tax professional with competent communication and writing skills
* Strong project manager, team-work orientated person with good interpersonal and communication skills
