Role purpose:
The role holder will act as an International Tax Manager within the Transfer Pricing and Tax Controversy team.
The primary purpose of the role will be to provide support in the defence and resolution of tax controversy matters, particularly in the areas of international tax and transfer pricing, and to provide support in the implementation of initiatives to prevent future tax controversy matters. This will involve engagement with internal stakeholders (including the markets and other Group functions) and external advisors.
The role holder will also support the general aims and objectives of the Transfer Pricing and Tax Controversy team, providing support on projects and transfer pricing activities, and sharing experience and best practice.
The role offers the chance to see international tax and transfer pricing in practice and provides a broad exposure to tax risks and controversy across multiple countries. Previous controversy experience is not necessarily required.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities:
* Providing support and assistance in the defence of tax audits as well as other contentious tax disputes in an efficient and considered manner.
* Co-ordinating and managing information relevant to the disputes as well as becoming the expert on the technical and factual details of a given matter
* Providing advice and recommendations on improvement to systems and processes, including improvements to transfer pricing processes
* Working closely with other members of the tax team on ad hoc transfer pricing projects and reviews
* Knowledge sharing - through co-ordination and dissemination of best practice in planning and preparation for potential tax disputes
