What you'll do

This is an exciting new tax role supporting the rapidly growing business, which provides a broad range of private asset investment opportunities to clients around the world. You will work within an expanding team of tax professionals dedicated to the Private Assets business, along with VAT, transfer pricing and product tax specialists from the wider tax team. Your role in the Private Assets tax team will be internationally focussed, covering both the US and European fund ranges.

Your main responsibilities will relate to the securitised credit and private assets solutions businesses, however the Private Assets tax team works collaboratively and you may be involved in a range of projects across all asset classes.

The Private Assets tax team supports business in a variety of ways:

* Assisting with fund structuring, including liaison with external advisors and review of advice to ensure the fund structure meets its investment objectives, is suitable for the intended clients
* Ensuring fund structuring advice is adequately implemented and communicated across the business.
* Assisting with the establishment of fund entities from a tax perspective; including ensuring tax elections and filings are prepared in a timely manner.
* Reviewing tax-related wording and disclosures in legal documents and other information available to investors.
* Working alongside legal and investment management colleagues based in the UK, US and Continental Europe to assist with tax due diligence and structuring advice in respect of potential fund investments, and understanding the tax consequences and operational tax aspects of proposed business transactions.
* Submission of fund withholding tax claims, including working with fund custodians and service providers to ensure filings are made on a timely basis. Assessing new opportunities for overseas tax refunds for our funds where applicable.
* Delivery of the annual tax compliance for our fund ranges, including liaising with the fund operations team and external services providers to ensure returns are filed in a timely and accurate manner.
* Oversight of overseas income tax returns prepared by our external advisors, where applicable.
* Delivery of tax reporting information to investors compliant with specific country requirements.
* Monitoring and delivery of other key tax processes including fund distributions and withholding obligations, REIT compliance and investor onboarding and reporting. Designing new processes and using technology to improve the efficiency of these and other important processes.
* Assisting the business with FATCA and CRS obligations for the applicable funds.
* Working alongside the business with investors and JV partners to understand and address their tax requirements, including negotiating tax-related matters in investor side letters. Addressing implementation aspects with the relevant teams across the business.
* Consideration of key tax risks relating to our fund ranges and assisting with development of mitigants and controls to manage and monitor such risks.
* Issue management and resolution, including tax authority audit support, across the range of applicable taxes.
* Support for corporate development including tax due diligence on private assets business transactions
* Monitoring new legislation and developments and ensuring implications for existing and new funds are understood or communicated.
* Ad hoc advice and assistance on tax matters affecting the business and its clients.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

* ACA, CTA or other relevant tax qualification with demonstrable experience.
