Your new role
The key elements of this role will be to:
* Support the Tax Manager and Head of Tax with tax compliance and tax accounting activities across the Bank;
* Responsible for preparation of key VAT and Transfer Pricing compliance and accounting deliverables;
* Provide VAT advice to the business as required;
* Support the Team with any tax automation activities to maximise process efficiencies and maintaining a robust control environment.
Additionally:
* Preparing quarterly VAT returns
* Preparing VAT Reverse Charge computations and accounting journals
* Preparing VAT Bad Debt relief computations
* Preparing VAT Annual PESM adjustments calculations
* Support with the annual Capital Goods Scheme (CGS) calculation and journal entries
* Preparing monthly VAT PESM accruals and Quarterly Capex/Opex journals
* Support the monthly Commodity Code reviews
* Liaising with the Property team to obtain annual floor areas required for VAT return purposes
* Preparation of annual Corporation Tax Return and R&D analysis
* Preparation of the annual PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA) for all entities
* Providing accounting analysis to our external tax advisors in order to support the completion of the annual corporation tax returns (CTR) including R&D claim process
* Preparing / reviewing tax balance sheet reconciliations
* Prepare / review various group company tax accounting journals
* Prepare periodic transfer pricing calculations and accounting entries
* Support with internal / external audit information requests
* Develop and motivate more junior colleagues within the team
* Complete Supplier Set Up VAT checks
* Complete Supplier Bank Payment approvals as required
* Support the team on maintaining robust financial controls across the tax area including maintaining SOP's
* Support process improvements including automation and efficient tax reporting (internal & external)
* Provide ad hoc tax advice across the Bank as required
* Any other duties as required that reasonably fall within the role
What you'll need to succeed
* Fully Qualified Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) Professional
* Experience working either for a tax advisory firm or in-house ideally within a financial services company
* Minimum of 3 years of related professional experience
* VAT and PESM experience is essential
* Knowledge of direct taxes including current and deferred tax accounting principles desirable
* Motivated self-starter with ability to multitask and complete assignments within time constraints and deadlines.
* Excellent project management, analytical, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
* Advanced MS Excel spreadsheet skills is essential
* Professionalism, dependability, integrity and trustworthiness combined with a cooperative attitude.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
