US/ UK Tax Associate Director (HNWI, Private Client Tax)

Blackden Consulting has previously assisted this firm's U.S. business tax team in hiring talent, and we're now excited to help them expand their larger private client group with a UK/US Tax Associate Director (HNWI). This client is looking for an experienced Senior Manager with 5+ years’ management experience in signing out US tax returns within the HNW private client area of US tax. This individual will have a good deal of advisory experience and will likely be found in HNW teams rather than global mobility.

Responsibilities:

● To act as a key point of contact within the firm for the client, together with the Partner. This will involve responding quickly to, as well as anticipating, client requests/needs, keeping clients informed of progress in relation to all aspects of the service provided, and maintaining regular contact with clients
● Signing out tax Forms 1040, 1040NR, 8858.
● Experienced in-depth with planning pre-immigration to the US
● Wide experiences with the use of the UK/US treaty in detail around business profits, compensation, pensions
● Advanced understanding of complex foreign tax credit scenarios and planning solutions.
● Experiences and ability to lead projects in resolving US and foreign trust matters for settlers and beneficiaries.
● Some understanding of CFCs, Subpart F income, GILTI and the potential election planning that can be done to mitigate these factors.
● Check the box /entity classification advice
● A broader base of US and UK private client experience working with consultants/ entrepreneurs / entertainers would be an advantage
● The individual would be able to form strong collaborative relationships with other teams in projects and ongoing
● A strong operational leader with good people management skills

Requirements:

● US Enrolled Agent (EA) and ATT qualified as a minimum
● A broad base of US and UK private client experience would be an advantage
● Robust understanding of the Tax Reform Act
● Demonstrable post qualified experience
● Guide and supervise less experienced colleagues.
● Support, train, mentor and advise others in own area.
● Challenge current practice – driving improvements and championing change.
● Take personal responsibility for own decisions and actions and those of others.
● Drive for finding practical solutions, ability to collaborate and the initiative and resilience to persevere with challenging work.
