Mission of the Department:
Manage the UK Tax position and risks of the Group through:
* Proactively advising and assisting all UK business lines in all tax related matters
* Ensuring that the UK operates within the Group's tax risk appetite and that a transparent, open relationship is maintained with HMRC
* Ensuring compliance with all UK filing obligations across all direct and indirect taxes.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with Group Tax and UK business lines
1.3 Context of the Function
The Tax Project Manager / Tax Manager is responsible for delivery of an
accounting and tax project within asset based finance. The job holder will work
closely with the finance teams, local business teams and advisers.
1 DESCRIPTION
2.1 Objective of the Function
The main objective of the UK tax function is to ensure that the group
discharges its responsibilities towards internal and external stakeholders in an
efficient and effective manner for all tax related matters.
2.2 Results and Core Activities of the Role
The successful candidate should be able to
* Manage a project with complex accounting and tax requirements
* Proactively ensure that the right questions are asked and complete answers provided, making sure that the overall objectives of the project are met
* Partner and work effectively with both direct team members and with colleagues across the wider organisation
* Develop in-depth understanding of the technical aspects of the project as well as business systems and processes
* Demonstrate high self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and as an effective team member
* Challenge business processes with a view to uncovering risks and issues that might affect the project goals and timelines
* Search for ways of improving existing business processes and to provide feedback and suggestions to both the project team and the business
* Be the key point of contact for all internal stakeholders as well as advisers
* Demonstrate exceptional stakeholder management skills
2.3 Knowledge and Experience
* ACA or CTA qualified tax professional with a minimum of 3-5 years PQE in financial services, 1-2 in asset based finance, ideally leasing
* Good understanding of lease accounting and taxation
* Strong organisational and project management skills
* Experience of managing a wide range of stakeholders
* Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Good understanding of project risk management A working, functional knowledge or banking systems and technology
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
