Job Description

Renishaw is a global, high-precision metrology and healthcare technology group whose purpose is to design, develop and deliver solutions and systems that provide unparalleled precision, control and reliability. Renishaw plc is looking to recruit an indirect tax specialist to join the small group tax function, reporting to the Group Tax Manager. The individual will work closely with tax/ finance colleagues and the wider business, to ensure VAT compliance, risk management and timely advice on indirect tax matters as required.

Key responsibilities

1) VAT compliance:

Review of UK Group and Ireland VAT returns, along with any additional reporting (e.g. intrastat and VIES)
Manage other overseas VAT registrations of UK companies
UK partial exemption and capital goods scheme calculations
Ensuring requirements for zero rating are met
Options to tax
Liaison with HMRC

2) Management of indirect tax risks:

Ensuring processes and controls are in place and maintained to minimise VAT (including Corporate Criminal Offence) risks
Proactive identification of opportunities for process improvement and automation efficiency, driving through change
Implementation/ maintenance of risk-based monitoring including evidencing what has been done

3) Building relationships and providing VAT advice and support to the business as required (including on cross border and chain transactions in international supply chain)

4) Management of projects e.g. VAT MTD, and indirect tax input into business led projects (e.g. Brexit)

5) VAT training, education and raising awareness more generally

6) Maintain VAT technical knowledge and keep Group Tax Manager and other colleagues informed of changes that could affect the business

Key requirements

Qualifications – Qualified VAT specialist (CTA or equivalent) with desire to broaden indirect tax knowledge beyond the UK. Significant experience in relevant role with extensive working knowledge of UK VAT as well as an understanding of EU and non-EU VAT/ sales taxes

IT – good knowledge of ERP systems technology, experience with accounting systems, adept with Microsoft Office, with strong excel skills and ability to analyse and interrogate data efficiently

Desirable requirements

Related degree 2:1 or above

Experience with international VAT & Customs

Able to produce documentation of work product ensuring robust audit trail. You will have the ability to identify and solve problems.
