Head of Tax
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Tax who will enjoy a high degree of autonomy and overall responsibility for Progress Housing Group’s taxation activities. This is a senior appointment and you will provide technical specialism for all of the Group's tax activities.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and focused individual who can achieve key operational objectives and meet key performance targets.
Duties and responsibilities
You will lead on all of the Group’s tax matters, providing strategic advice on the management of tax within the Group, introducing new, tax efficient, ways of working and ensuring the effective management of intra-Group transactions. You will also ensure the compliant operation of the Group's direct and indirect tax affairs, including VAT, Corporation Tax, Stamp Duty, Capital Gains tax, CIS and PAYE matters.
Progress Housing Group is a growing business and you will be part of a team supporting new initiatives, using your expertise to set up tax efficient structures to deliver the project.
Skills and qualities
You will be a qualified accountant or hold a relevant Tax qualification and have experience in a Group function, with exposure to involving risk, audit and tax. You will effectively manage strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and be able to work independently and within a team, demonstrating good communication skills. You will be proactive with the ability to lead and motivate others.
Scope of role
Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director & Company Secretary, you will line manage one other team member. You will be part of a great team of 28 Finance & Governance professionals. PHG turnover more than £76m. Based in Leyland, Lancashire.
