Deloitte’s Banking group based in London has a distinctive positioning within tax, generally enabling links with the specialist actuarial and audit services within the firm and with Deloitte offices internationally. This access to global resource enables us to provide client compliance and advisory services supporting the development of products and tax planning ideas as well as providing "health checks" to prevent problems arising.

Our areas of expertise cover:
• Banks (retail and investment) and Securities Houses.
• Private Banking Financial instruments.
• Leasing Brokers.
• Investment funds.

Due to continued expansion within the group, we have a need for an experienced individual to join our busy team. The role offers a broad mix of compliance and advisory work with an international focus and you will be working with the world’s leading financial institutions. Leading and supervising teams of less experienced staff, this is a key role in the continued development of this specialist group.
Role description
Associate Directors own a portfolio of clients, steer client services and deliver innovative solutions by bringing together multi-disciplinary teams to tackle some of our most complex client challenges.

As an Associate Director you will develop relationships with your clients, actively contribute to the eminence of our practice by external knowledge sharing and invest time in business development.

You will be a role model to others and participate in an inclusive environment of team working where team members feel supported. You will also be supported in deepening your own technical specialism, widening your cross service line and industry or market knowledge, and continuing to develop your skills.

Responsibilities
- Advising UK and international clients on various corporate tax issues including in respect of specific banking and financial services rules
- Involvement in ad hoc advisory projects including product structuring and transactional tax issues
- Providing transaction support and structuring advice (e.g. business transfers, M&A work)
- Delivery of technology-based tax solutions to banking companies, for example to automate year-end reporting processes
- Participation in industry forums and consultation processes
- To have a broader perspective of potential issues encountered when managing diverse teams and the strategies to overcome them; have a clear understanding of the firm’s commitment to creating a more inclusive culture

Requirements
- ACA / CTA qualified or equivalent qualification or experience;
- UK Corporate tax experience gained from an in house role within a financial institution or from an accountancy / legal / advisory firm;
- A proven track record working in the banking, leasing or the financial services sector where you were maintaining and developing client relationships;
- The ability to manage a portfolio of clients and projects as well as the desire to manage and help develop junior staff;
- Confident in person as you will be dealing with Board level decision makers.
