As a Senior Manager you will be responsible for providing leadership to the team and to build and sustain external and internal client relationships. You have responsibility for the management of a portfolio of clients including fee negotiations, control of billings and cash collections within the firm’s criteria.

In managing an assignment you will determine resource requirements, monitor team progress against budget and timeframes, review work of more junior members of the team and resolve issues prior to Partner review.

As a Senior Manager you will play a key role in developing relationships with existing clients and proactively seeking out new opportunities for BS&A as well as engaging with other departments to ensure a cross stream approach to business development activities. You will also take a lead on ensuring the successful implementation of national strategy and initiatives.

Principal Accountabilities and Attributes

Technical

Key Account Management and responsibility for own portfolio of clients including client take on procedures, agreeing scope, fee negotiations, control of billings and cash collections within the firm’s criteria.
Manage client assignments, which includes determining the resource requirements, monitoring progress against budget and established timeframe, review of work completed by junior team members and resolving all project issues prior to Partner review.
Manage team on a day-to-day basis.
Acts as a major point of contact within the firm for the client. This includes responding quickly to, as well as anticipating, client requests/needs, keeping clients informed of progress in relation to all aspects of the service provided and maintaining regular contact with clients.
Able to advise clients on business strategy and general business advisory matters as well as business plans, and bring in other BDO teams as necessary to advise on specialist areas.
Ensure that the firm’s risk management and quality control procedures are adhered to
People management responsibilities covering resource planning and allocation, performance management, training and recommendations for promotion. Act as a mentor to team members and provide coaching with a view to assisting them to achieve their personal career goals.
Work as part of management team on issues such as resource planning, staff retention, performance rate meetings, improving our tools and processes and efficiency gains
Keep up to date with all technical developments in order to ensure continued excellent delivery of services to the client.
May develop a specialism and actively work to identify new business opportunities in that market

Commercial

Responsible for the development of new business relationships and business proposals through high level sales and marketing activity.
Demonstrates the ability to grow fees.
Has a wide network of contacts – both internal and external
Builds a pipeline of potential new work in own right
Plays a key role in supporting partners in all group sales and marketing activity, including leading client pitch teams, attendance at group networking, and other marketing events as appropriate
Keeps up-to-date with market trends and can engage with senior business leaders on a wide range of topics
Wins work by proactively managing existing clients and targeting new BS&A and non-BS&A clients.
Demonstrates overall client ownership and ensures the highest standards in others
Proactively takes potentially valuable ideas to the client
Acts as a collaborative client manager and applies a managed clients approach
Develops innovative solutions to the commercial challenges of the client
Communicates effectively to ensure client expectations are managed appropriately
Leads in department business development strategy and actively involves others in their business development activities
Coaches others to enable them to win work and build their professional networks
Has a written personal development plan and is making it happen
Is able to undertake meaningful business discussions with clients at all levels
Is beginning to develop an area of specialism and knowledge
Openly shares their expertise both internally and externally
