Based in central London, this globally recognised bank, have a current need for a AVP level, Senior Tax Professional - Advisory. The role will support the head of the EMEA Business Unit Support and Tax planning team, the new recruit will work with team members responsible for supporting and advising Global markets and Global Banking Business units, advising on information reporting, working on EMEA tax planning initiatives and providing technical support to the EMEA tax compliance team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a tax specialist to work in a newly-created role, within a small organisation working on large high-profile property projects. You will be liaising with a variety of internal and external stakeholders at a senior level. There is a huge variety of work on offer and scope to shape the tax department and develop/improve the service being provided to the wider business.
Key duties:
* Reporting to the head of the EMEA Business Unit Support and Tax planning team the new recruit will work with team members responsible for supporting and advising Global markets and Global Banking Business units, advising on information reporting, working on EMEA tax planning initiatives and providing technical support to the EMEA tax compliance team
* The role provides exposure to a diverse range of tax issues and products enabling the candidate to develop a detailed understanding of the Global Markets and Global Banking businesses
* The role will involve direct contact with a variety of front office trading desks
* The role will enable the candidate to work with experienced senior tax professionals who will help develop their tax advisory skills and knowledge
The new recruit will work with others in the team:
* To maximise the tax efficiency of Global Markets and Global Banking activities in EMEA and minimise tax risks. This entails a thorough understanding and a continual involvement in the international corporate structure, business operating model, products and services
* To provide information reporting (FATCA and Common Reporting Standard) advice and support to the business and other support partners
* To encourage front office and support functions (such as Legal, Finance, Operations and HR) in EMEA to seek internal tax advice as appropriate by promoting tax awareness throughout the BU and by a proactive, solutions orientated approach
* To establish appropriate policies, procedures and standards to ensure compliance with applicable local tax laws and US tax laws, including client related reporting, withholding requirements and transaction taxes
* To advise on tax planning initiatives and corporate restructurings
* To advise on the most tax efficient manner for GM and GB to conduct business activities throughout the region
Qualifications:
* ACA, CTA, lawyer or equivalent tax qualification
Essential Skills:
* Proactive, conscientious and high level of attention to detail
* Good interpersonal skills to build working relationships with the tax team, the Business, advisors, the finance team and HMRC
Preferred skills:
* Experience in an accountancy or law firm or in an in-house tax department
* International and financial services tax experience would be beneficial but is not a pre-requisite
* Information reporting experience would be beneficial but is not a pre-requisite
